Three Sources of Anglican Apostasy

Nov 04  Hudson Barton. Comments: 1

I propose that we summarize the problems of Anglicanism as having all come from three sources:
  1. Branch Ecclesiology.   Adhering to the Church's men and to the things of earth rather than to the Church's God and to the things of heaven.  Idolatrous veneration of saints and of creation.
  2. Arminian Soteriology.  Denial that the Grace of Christ is (for salvation) intentional, unconditional, irresistible, and solely responsible.
  3. Natural Man theory, as having no original sin, no inherent obligation and no eternal purpose.  Primitivism.
Vincent Murphy I hereby propose a fourth: Rationalism. - Justifying decisions based upon what is expected or known to elicit a good response rather than on whether the decision itself is justified by Scripture. February 03, 2010
